St. Frances Cabrini New Catholic Mission is part of the National Catholic Apostolic Church US. We are one of many Catholic churches who comprise the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church throughout the world. We are a Catholic faith community with ministries across America who support the People of God by way of sacraments, education, hospital ministry, and others that are in the process of forming. As clergy we are young and old, experienced and in formation, married and single. The NCACUS sees the opportunity of welcoming any person who is or wants to be Catholic into a church that is open and welcoming and affirming to people of different gifts, strengths, charism, backgrounds, orientations, challenges, and mindsets. Do we want to be everything for everybody all the time? Well, yes. But as nice as that sounds for a brochure or sound bite on an advertisement, we know we can’t be all those. As clergy and as people we know what it is like to be disenfranchised from parishes, churches, and ministries. We know what it is like to be hurt in the name of God and Our Lord. And we don’t want that to happen to anyone else.
The term "independent" does not refer to our spiritual state but a jurisdictional one. This term is used to differentiate ourselves and prevent confusion. There has long been a history of autocephalous communities within the Universal Catholic Church that have maintained valid sacraments and are, in fact, true Churches.
Speaking on this issue, then-Cardinal Josef Ratzinger wrote, "Therefore, there exists a single Church of Christ, which subsists in the Catholic Church, governed by the Successor of Peter and by the Bishops in communion with him. The Churches which, while not existing in perfect communion with the (Roman) Catholic Church, remain united to her by means of the closest bonds, that is, by apostolic succession and a valid Eucharist, are true particular Churches. Therefore, the Church of Christ is present and operative also in these Churches..." (from Dominus Ieusus) Additionally, we adhere to the first seven ecumenical councils, celebrate all seven sacraments, the Nicene Creed, and the Apostles Creed.
